Silver Cup 1st Super Six tournament begins in Kohima

KOHIMA — A three-day Silver Cup first Super Six tournament organised by Nepali Baptist Church Kohima Youth Department (NBCK YD) commenced at Razhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School (RGHSS) ground, Kohima, on Thursday, with Dr. Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso, MLA, as the special guest of the inaugural ceremony.

In his brief address, Rhutso exuded hope that the initiative would bring better understanding and unity, saying that “every run scored is for unity, every boundary and sixes be for peace while every wicket taken would take away the bondage of bad habits among the youth”.

As a first time legislator representing Kohima Town, he assured to do his best for the uplift of the town.

The programme led by NBCK YD vice chairperson Sanjana Basel, commenced with prayer by NBCK pastor in-charge Jack Thapa, while the convenor of organising committee, Purna B. Sunar delivered the keynote address.

A total of 13 teams are taking part in the tournament which carries a cash award of INR 20,000 with trophy for the champions and INR 10,000 for the runners-up.

The tournament will conclude on May 4.
