Dimapur, Sep. 30 (EMN): A boundary dispute between the two neighbouring villages of Signal Angami and Kashiram in Dimapur was formally settled on Saturday after the two village councils signed an agreement containing mutually agreed demarcations.
Represented by their respective chairmen and Gaon Burras, the two village councils entered into an agreement during an event hosted by the Kashiram village council Saturday morning.
As per information given by the two councils, the first meeting between them was held in July this year ‘to discuss the boundary issues between the two villages.’ It was during this meeting that the two councils decided to form a committee comprising 5 members each from the two villages to demarcate a mutually accepted boundary.
Accordingly, it was the Signal village council that suggested ‘the approach road from (Rangapahar) Army cantonment road to the boundary wall of Imtiwati Jamir and touching the nullah (drainage) of High Mountain School at the southeast side of Kashiram village.’
After a series of deliberations, the proposal was finally accepted by the Kashiram council, and the agreement unanimously approved on September 18 last. Leaders of both villages were of the view that the signing of the boundary agreement would enable better relation between the two villages, especially among the youth.
