Shürhozelie releases ‘Rocks of Nagaland’

Two books entitled, “The Fragile Ecosystem of Nagaland” and “Rocks of Nagaland” authored by Dr. Vizovol Mekro, Asst. Prof, Kohima Science College and published by Barkweaver Publications, Norway was officially released today by NPF President Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu.
Addressing the formally release function at Cornerstone Bookstore here this evening, Dr. Shürhozelie stressed on the need for the Naga people to learn more about the balance of ecosystem.He expressed the hope that the book entitled, “The Fragile Ecosystem of Nagaland” would go a long way in making the people understand and practice preservation and conservation.
He also suggested translation of the book in all the local Naga dialect with the help of qualified language officers of the school education department so that people in the interior areas can also learn from it. He congratulated the author for presenting the books to posterity.
Making an introduction of the books, Dr. Vizovol said that it has been written considering the magnificent flora and fauna of Nagaland of the past and its pitiable degraded condition today. It is important to educate the people to protect and preserve the forest so as to evoke a sense of compassion and care for the ecosystem.
Rocks of Nagaland, he said would help the zoology students to learn more about the different types of rocks found in the State.
In her foreword for “The Fragile Ecosystem of Nagaland”, renowned Naga poet and novelist Easterine Kire said that “Dr. Vizovol has presented a number of articles on varying subjects all interconnected to our culture, our flora and fauna and particularly our bird population. Using a narrative that a layman can easily understand, the articles are simply written and well documented”.
