Dimapur, May 2 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front on Thursday served a show cause notice to the eight party functionaries who had questioned the NPF’s decision to suspend the seven erring legislators. “…your intention in openly questioning and challenging the decision of the party is total breach of Party discipline. You are therefore, directed to show cause as to why the disciplinary action should be initiated against you,” read the notice. The eight NPF functionaries include S Akang, general secretary, Central; Nokshom, secretary, Central; Bendang Chang, secretary, Central; Honpha, general secretary, youth wing, Central; Kupwang, general secretary, youth wing, Central; Yongwem, CEC member; Shanyei, CEC member; and Manlem, ECE member. They have been asked to reply within seven days. In a separate statement, the party asserted that as far as the matter of disqualification petition is concerned, the ball is now in the Speaker’s court. “It is necessary to remind these few office bearers who are trying to defend the seven erring MLAs that the party function under the NPF constitution and every member, including the office bearers and the party MLAs, is governed by the party constitution. “And therefore, whoever violates the provision of the constitution will have to face the consequences as the provision of the party constitution and the action taken so far against the seven erring MLAs is well within the party constitution,” it stated. However, in order to “satisfy the queries raised by some of the office bearers”, the party stated that it had “a soft corner for the seven MLAs” and waited one month from them to return to the party fold. “The NPF reminds that any activities, which goes and serves against the party principle and ideology is considered as anti-party activity as laid down in the party constitution and the party is purely functioned and governed by the party constitution, therefore, it is baseless on the accusation made in the press statement that the party runs under dictatorship. The party have reminded them to go through the party constitution properly.”
