When it comes to this special day, the first thing that pops in my mind is “Mahatma Gandhi”. Yes, our freedom fighter who set us free from the British rule on August 15, 1947. But if we look more deeper into this day, it harks me back to where some of the military gave their all for us: The Jawans who said “I’ll be back soon” to their wives and children but never came back. The soldiers who raised their sword up high and went onto protect our country till the end. The armies who stood the whole day with mettle under the scorching sun for us. The great Patriots who made us enjoy our life sacrificing theirs for us. Dear readers, you must be questioning yourself, “They died for the country, not for me”. I’m here to tell that if it hadn’t been for them, will we be enjoying our life now? I know, not everyone have the luxurious life but all of us are rich in our own way- with our families and friends. Coming to my conclusion I would like to wish everyone a “Happy Independence Day”. Lolesenu Vitsu Class-VIII, Little Flower Higher Secondary School Kohima
