Dimapur, Feb. 10 (EMN): The Naga Peoples’ Front’s (NPF) candidate for 32nd Atoizu assembly constituency Picto Shohe has on Sat. Feb. 10 declared his candidature to contest in the forthcoming Nagaland assembly elections. He declared his candidature at a programme at Atoizu local ground.
Former legislator Shohe addressed the gathering and spoke about his commitment for development in the area. People, he said, elect their representatives for development and elected leaders should work in tune with the needs of the people. He explained that elected legislators were servants of the public and not the other way round. He has sought support from the people to enable him to work in a better way for them.
‘As an independent candidate I was able to bring progress and development to the area and I can work better if I enter the government (as part of a ruling party),’ he maintained.
The NPF’s working president, Huskha Yepthomi, exhorted the gathering. He expressed confidence that the party would return to power with a thumping majority and form the government again.
