Mokokchung, March 22 (EMN): Sharingain Longkumer, the PDA’s consensus candidate for the by-election to 26 Aonglenden assembly constituency, filed the nomination paper on Friday.
Abhinav Shivam, SDO (C), who is also the returning officer for the by-election to 26 Aonglenden assembly constituency assisted by EAC Bodi Kapfo, examined the documents furnished by the candidate.
Soon after, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio—accompanied by the president of NDPP, Chingwang Konyak, legislators and top party officials from the coalition partners—launched the PDA’s campaign at the BabuTzubu Amphitheatre in Ungma village.
Announcing his candidature, Sharingain Longkumer said “with your trust and faith, I stand to bring change; no matter how insignificant it may seem but change will be brought in the eco-socio and political aspect of our lives.”
“I stand to be the voice of 26 Aonglenden A/C in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, especially the young generation since the young are the human resource for tomorrow,” said Longkumer while appealing the electors to support him.
“I stand for youth empowerment and women empowerment; I stand for sustainable development, talent and skill development by focusing on target groups; I stand for digital empowerment of 26 Aonglenden A/C; I stand for the preservation and promotion of our rich cultural and traditional heritage,” Longkumer declared.
He also mentioned that 26-Aonglenden assembly constituency was a blessed constituency, which has produced many Naga political luminaries and dynamic leaders not only for the state of Nagaland but also for the Indian Union.
“In this ever-changing universe, the only two factors that are always constant are God and change itself; and it is for this change that I have prayed and decided to commit myself unto all of you. I pray and seek for your trust and faith in me the same way I put my trust in each one of you.”
He also expressed his deepest gratitude to NDPP and the PDA partners for reposing their faith and trust in him.
Longkumer also asserted the PDA was founded and the alliance forged, as a response to the people’s desire for a political party that will carry the voice and aspirations of the masses.
He further asserted that the foundation and ideologies of the NDPP is strong, clear and reflects the desire of the people; and the party is committed to bringing about positive change, progressive development and all-round inclusive growth.
‘NDPP is committed to stand up for justice, liberty, equality and respect for human rights under the most able leadership of Neiphiu Rio and NDPP and PDA chairman Chingwang Konyak,’ he said.
“We will strive for peace, universal brotherhood, secularism and transparency in governance,” Longkumer asserted.
“With the support of NDPP and PDA, and most prayerfully with our almighty’s guidance, I seek your precious support and I am ever strengthened to fight the good fight with a new vision and a new mission for 26 Aonglenden assembly constituency,” he said.
LS aspirants file nominations
The two aspirants for the lone Lok Sabha seat from Nagaland, Tokheho Yepthomi and KL Chishi, on Friday filed their respective nomination papers for election to the Nagaland parliamentary constituency, according to a DIPR report.
Yepthomi will represent the ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party and Chishi, Indian National Congress. The nomination papers will be ‘scrutinised’ on March 26, it informed.
