Dimapur, July 4 (EMN): A students’ organisation in Tuensang district has demanded from the health authorities a medical officer for a community health centre (CHC) at Shamator.
The Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) issued a press release to the media on Thursday appealing for fulfilment of said demand.

‘The YAA is much appalled by the lackadaisical attitude of the state government over the non-fulfilment of genuine demands made by various civil societies with regard to non-deployment of MO at CHC Shamator,’ the press release stated.

According to the group, several organisations including the Shamator Town Public Forum have made repeated appeals requesting the authorities to deploy an officer for the health centre at Shamator.

‘In this regard, the department have assured to deploy MO and also a temporary arrangement was also agreed upon in principle. However, to our much consternation, nothing have been materialised hitherto. Thus, it is construe that the voice of the people has been ‘sub judice’ as justice delayed is justice denied,’ the group explained.

The organisation noted that the department ‘transferred’ a medical officer and was posted at the Shamator CHC.
The press release read: “However, the concerned officer is yet to be reported at his new place of posting i.e.

Shamator. The lone CHC which caters the medical amenities for the entire sub-division is now functioning without a single doctor for nearly 2 years. This has further aggravated the deteriorating health care services adding much woes to poverty stricken patients who could barely afford to be treated in government hospitals.”

The organisation has asked the government to address the matter on priority ‘lest the situation turns superfluous problems as a result of outburst of public patience,’ the group added.
