Shamator reports 5 Covid-19 cases for the first time; two days total lockdown

Dimapur, Aug. 30 (EMN): Shamator town has reported five Covid-19 positive cases for the first time. The town had remained a safe zone from the novel coronavirus till August 29.

According to the DIPR report on Sunday, the samples of the patients including three male and two female were taken for testing and the results returned positive. 

Nurses and health workers who came in contact with the patients have gone for self isolation, it informed.

With health workers undergoing self-quarantine, it was informed that the town is running short of medical staff. Consequently, a team of medical workers from Tuensang including two doctors and three surveillance workers have reportedly reached Shamator for contact tracing.

Meanwhile, the Tuensang district task force has imposed two days total lockdown on August 30 and 31 in Shamator town in order to contain the spread of disease and for contact tracing.

In a circular, the additional deputy commissioner of Shamator, Lankonsen Tsanglao, who is also the chairman of the task force, informed that all movements have been prohibited except medical emergency and services, administration, police, security forces, persons on Covid-19 duty, and funeral.

All business establishments shall remain closed except pharmacies and all gatherings of people, places of worship, banks, and Aadhar enrollment centres among others shall remain closed till further order.
