DIMAPUR — The monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meetings of Shamator and Mokokchung districts were held at their respective district headquarters on Tuesday.
Shamator: The meeting was held at the DB hall, Shamator, under the chairmanship of MLA S Keoshu Yimchunger who is also the DPDB chairman, a DIPR report stated.
During the meeting, various agendas were discussed, including a proposal for the establishment of a primary school in Lunthur village. The village representative and Education department officials informed the house that the village lacks a government school, and with the growing population, the need for a primary school has become a pressing priority.
On the agenda for identification and acquisition of land for integrated office complex and staff quarters, the board discussed the proposal for identifying and acquiring a large plot of land. The board emphasised on rationalisation of construction costs and provision of basic necessities such as water supply, power supply and road connectivity.

The board also resolved to take up the matter with all stakeholders, including tribal councils and landowners.
The board also expressed concern over the repeated rejection of DLSB recommendations for land acquisition for new offices. To address this, it was resolved to request the State-Level Asset Authority (SLAA) to determine a fixed land rate for Shamator district, facilitating the district administration to invite landowners to sell land at the specified rate through an open notification.
Additionally, the board noted with concern that the road stretch between Shiponger village and Huker junction, despite being a vital connectivity to the state capital, has deteriorated significantly since its construction under PMGSY Phase-I.
The house therefore resolved to urge the chief engineer, PWD (R&B), to expedite repairs and upgrades to restore the road's functionality.
Further, following a proposal by ward representatives and the town council administrator to upgrade “Soil colony to Soil ward” due to significant population growth and expansion, the house deliberated and subsequently approved the proposal.

The executive engineer of PWD (NH), Tuensang division, presented the status report of Bailey bridge over Dikhu river at NH-202. The board also discussed the upcoming departmental sports meet 2025.
