
Students with the collected waste during the cleanliness
drive at Singtra Valley.
- DIMAPUR — The
Seyochung Village Students' Union (SVSU), in collaboration with Government High
School Seyochung Village, organised a cleanliness drive at Singtra Valley on
Wednesday.
- According to an update, students from the school actively
participated by picking up plastic and other waste materials from the valley.
All collected waste was properly disposed of at the designated location.
- After the drive, a short programme was held in which SVSU
president Longtili C Sangtam thanked the students and school authorities for
their support and participation. He also delivered a brief awareness speech on
the harmful effects of plastic on the environment.

- During the programme, the president officially declared
Singtra Valley a plastic-free zone. He announced a ban on single-use plastics
such as straws, plastic plates, cups, carry bags, and water bottles. People are
encouraged to use alternatives such as cloth or jute bags, paper straws, and
reusable containers and bottles.
- It was mentioned that, to support this initiative, the union
will install separate bins for biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste,
promote composting of organic waste, and display posters promoting plastic-free
alternatives. The union also requested all visitors to cooperate in maintaining
Singtra Valley as a clean and plastic-free place.
