Dimapur, Aug. 28 (EMN): Taking into consideration the publication of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam, Seyochung area students’ union (Sasu) has announced to undertake verification drive to prevent influx of illegal immigrants in the Seyochung jurisdiction.
A press release issued by the union’s president and the general secretary stated, “in order to segregate genuine Indian citizens from the illegal immigrants, students volunteer will be assigned to verify documents of non-Nagas at any time and at any place within its jurisdiction.”
The union directed inner line permit holders to carry their permit and other relevant documents like electorate ID card and Aadhaar card.
“In the process of verification of ILP and other related documents, the defaulters who are not able to produce the documents will be considered as illegal immigrants and the defaulters will be handed over to the district administration and the police or will be dealt with stern action as deemed fit by the student unions,” the SASU stated.
The union also requested the public to support and extend full cooperation to the union as the current issue or threat is a common concern faced by the public.
