- DIMAPUR — To
ensure successful completion of ongoing road construction under PMGSY-III
(Seyochung town via New Monger via Seyochung village), the Seyochung Area
Students’ Union (SASU) along with four villages have adopted four-point
resolutions.
- The resolutions stated that no individual should claim any
land compensation under PMGSY-III, while it also requested all the Naga
political groups not to impose any tax on the ongoing PMGSY-III.
- It also resolved that no village should provide the
completion certificate until SASU notifies after spot verification and it urged
the concerned contractors to complete the ongoing road construction as per the
timeframe.

- The resolutions to this effect was taken during a joint
meeting of SASU officials with the head GBs and the village chairmen of Old
Monger village, New Monger village, Yangzitong village and Seyochung village
held on April 17 in Old Monger village.
- An update from SASU stated that the road project has been a
long-felt collective aspiration and regarded as vital infrastructure for all
the mentioned villages and Seyochung area in general. It road serves as the
primary transportation route and the key link to the headquarters, Seyochung
town.
- It stated that the project has finally taken shape after
years of challenges and delays.
- It warned that the union along with the concerned villages
would take necessary actions against anyone who fails to adhere to the above
mentioned resolutions.
- Meanwhile, SASU has expressed concern over the notice issued
by the principal of Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, directing government
college students to participate in a demonstration supporting the controversial
regularisation of 147 contractual assistant professors and librarians.
- SASU has strictly prohibited any student or individual of
Seyochung area from participating in or endorsing the said demonstration on
April 21. It considered the directive as a clear attempt to legitimise and
normalize backdoor appointments, which violates the principles of merit,
fairness and transparency in public recruitment.
- It warned that any student or individual from Seyochung area
found participating in the demonstration or promoting the same in any form
would face strict disciplinary action.
