Several persons injured in clash during protest rally

DIPHU — More than five persons sustained injuries while one vehicle was partially damaged following an attack by some miscreants during a protest demonstration organised by the Autonomous State Demand Committee Youth Front (ASDCYF) and Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) at Kheroni Sari-ali in West Karbi Anglong on Thursday at around 5 pm.

The protest demonstration was organised against the demand of Rachnatmak Nonia Sanyukta Sangh (RNSS) on land rights on PGR and VGR in West Karbi Anglong.

According to sources, an argument between the miscreants and protestors resulted in violence where several demonstrators were injured.

It was learned that the protesters refused to leave the place of demonstration unless action was taken against the attackers. Sources added that police personnel reached the place and took stock of the situation.

Sources further informed that the place was tense as activists of the Autonomous State Demand Committee Youth Front and Karbi Student Association refused to disperse and blocked the road till 8 pm.
