Various organizations have strongly condemned the cold-blooded murder of G.M. Rongmei, Sub-Divisional Engineer, BSNL Zunheboto, terming the killing as an act of cowardice.
Late Rongmei was shot dead at point blank and his niece was wounded on her leg at their residence in Naga Goan Colony, Dimapur on March 1 evening by unidentified assailants.
The organizations appealed to the law enforcing agencies to get to the bottom of the investigation and award befitting punishment to the culprits as per the law.
Governor:
Governor of Nagaland P.B. Acharya expressed his sorrow at the tragic death of G.M. Rongmei and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. He also prayed to God to grant them the strength to bear the irreparable loss.Naga Council Dimapur:
Naga Council Dimapur said, it was infuriated to learn about the cold blooded murder of late.G.M.Rongmei by unscrupulous gunmen who shot the deceased.
NCD President T.Bangerloba and Vice President Chingden Konyak strongly condemned the crime and questioned the reason behind the murder of a ‘sincere Naga officer’ who was born and brought up from Dimapur and serving as Sub-Divisional Engineer (BSNL) till his death.
NCD appealed to the law enforcing agencies to unearth the criminals involved and award befitting punishment. The council also appealed to general public to join hands to act against such heinous crime which attempt to cow down society.
GBs Association:
Dimapur District GBs Association has vehemently condemned the cold-blooded murder and expressed dismay over the ‘cowardly act’ perpetrated by unidentified miscreants.
Association President Shikuto Zalipu and I&P Secretary Akhu Gangmei in a release stated, “Whatever reasons for, it deserved a condemnation by one and all. It is a matter of concern that such trends unknown to our society have now being practiced, creating fear psychosis among the people.”
The Association appealed to the law enforcing agencies to get to the bottom of the investigation and book the culprits, award befitting punishment as per the law.
Meanwhile, the Association conveyed a deepest condolence to the bereaved family and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Tenyimi Union Dimapur:
The Tenyimi Union, Dimapur (TUD) said it is extremely disturbed by the killing of G.M. Rongmei, posted at Zunheboto, and bullet injuries caused to his niece Rajni, both bonafide members of TUD, by armed unidentified assailants at around 9 p.m. at their residence.
“Both the victims of the armed assault were peace loving citizens and do not deserve such attack for any reason whatsoever. Further, the perpetrators of such brutal and atrocious acts deserve no place in a civilized society and such acts should be condemned by all peace loving citizens. Therefore, while strongly condemning the cowardly incident, we sincerely urge upon the law enforcing agency to carry out speedy investigation and to dispense justice by punishing the culprit(s) involved without fear or favor.”
Meanwhile, TUD President Khalo Kapfo and Gen. Secretary Zhasa Vupru conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family members of the deceased and prayed that the Almighty God may grant them solace. It also sympathized with the injured Rajni and prayed that the Almighty God may grant her speedy recovery.
Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland:
Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland strongly condemned the cold-blooded murder of late GM Rongmei, and seriously injuring Rajni Rongmei.
“Lt.GM Rongmei was a very dedicated and committed officer who has served in BSNL department for the last 34 years in different capacity, He was a very honest and sincere officer who rendered his utmost devotion to his service without any bias or colours. He was also posted in Dimapur district and served for 7 years,” stated a release issued by ZBN President Rangsam N.Hau and Secy.Info & Publicity, Namrachang Hegui.
“Zeliangrong people are extremely shocked and dismayed over the brutal murder of Lt.GM Rongmei, an innocent senior officer without any rhyme and reasons who doesn’t deserve such capital punishment from anyone, whoever be the person/individuals or factions, there are many ways and means to reason had there been any misunderstanding within and without, such heinous crime committed against Lt.GM Rongmei by crooked assailants cannot be tolerated by Zeliangrong people and needs condemnation at highest degree by all rightful thinking citizens.”
Baudi strongly appealed to the competent law enforcing agency to book the culprit and give befitting punishment as per the law of the land.
Lt. GM Rongmei left behind his wife and 4 children at the time of his demise. “His absence has left behind a vacuum which will be difficult to fill up for generations to come.” Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that God Almighty may restore peace and happiness in their family soon.
Rongmei Council Nagaland:
The Rongmei Council Nagaland (RCN) unconditionally condemned the ‘senseless’ murder of Sub-Divisional Engineer (SDE) BSNL Zunheboto, Gaithuikungpu Rongmei in a cruel manner by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Naga Gaon, Dimapur on Sunday evening.
“We are extremely shocked to learn how devilish and daring the criminals are to enter someone’s premises and kill a person in front of his family members. They challenged the law & order of the State and escaped after murdering the innocent person,” stated a release issued by RCN president Chingkhiulung Gonmei and general secretary Mathew Rongmei.
“There’s no justification for the killing of blameless officer and rendering his wife as a widow and their children as fatherless. We fervently appeal to all right-thinking citizens to condemn such devilish act which is a potent threat that annihilates the existence of peace-loving society in a democratic State.”
The RCN strongly urged the district administration and law enforcing agencies to nab the culprits at the earliest and award befitting punishments to them as per the law of the land.
“Our thoughts, sympathy and prayers are with the families of the victim during this extremely difficult moment.” The council prayed that God may comfort them and grant them strength to bear the loss. It also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Naga Gaon Council:
The Naga Gaon Council has condemned the shooting incident where unidentified miscreants killed one of its bonafide members, GM Rongmei at his residence.
“Late GM Rongmei had served the Council as the first treasurer from the year 1994 to 1997. The Council is shocked and dismayed by the incident where an honest and sincere man with no bad records was killed mercilessly in his own house.”
The Naga Gaon Council fervently appealed to the district administration, police and the authority concerned to take all measures to identify and apprehend the culprits and reward befitting punishment as per the law.
Meanwhile, the Council wished a speedy recovery to Rajni who was injured and prayed that the Almighty God may grant comfort and solace to the bereaved family at this hour of grief.
Rongmei Community Dimapur:
The Rongmei Community Dimapur strongly condemned the killing by unidentified gunmen and appealed to the law enforcing agencies to investigate into the matter and book the culprit at the earliest. RCD Gen.Secy. Chunthailung Kamei conveyed deep condolences to the bereaved family members and wished the injured niece of the deceased a speedy recovery.
