Dimapur, Aug. 9 (EMN): As part of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, government officials, police personnel and students in several districts of Nagaland took part in ‘Prabhat Pheris’ (morning procession) on August 9 by carrying the national flags.
In Dimapur, police personnel led by the Commissioner of Police, Rothihu Tetseo, organised the morning procession from his office to clock tower.
Before commencement of the procession, Tetseo briefed the police personnel about the flag codes and rules and directed all uniformed personnel for observing “Har Ghar Tiranga” by reminding them that it was a duty of the police.
While referring to Section 2 of the Prevention of National Honor Act 1971 he said, "Whoever in any public place or any other place within public view burns, mutilates, defaced, disfigure, destroys, tramples upon or otherwise shows disrespect (whether by words either spoken and written or by acts) the Indian National flag shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with fine or both.
Similarly, the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal, led the procession from ADC Court junction and culminated at the clock tower.
In his brief address at clock tower, DC Dimapur expressed gratitude to all the participants and observed that the big turnout itself spoke about the love and respect one has for the nation. He was optimistic that the spirit of nationalism would reach greater heights.
Thousands of participants including government officials, civil society organisations, students in uniform from different schools and colleges, and the public participated in the morning walk by carrying the national flag.
In another programme, officials and school students in Mon town took part in ‘Prabhat Pheris’ held at Helipad Ground.
Before flagging off the procession, the DC of Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, highlighted to the students the purpose of the rally.
Altogether, 150 participants from three government schools in Mon participated in the rally.
Wokha district also organised the morning procession from police point to the deputy commissioner’s office. Advisor of Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan; Advisor of Law and Justice Dr. Chumben Murry; and Advisor of Information Technology and Communication, Science and Technology, New and Renewable Energy, Mmhonlumo Kikon participated in the rally.
All the head of offices in Wokha district, government employees, and school students took part in the rally.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, informed that the district administration and DEF Kohima would organising a rally on August 10 at 6 am. He has requested all the government employees and the public to actively participate in the rally to ensure successful implementation of the campaign.
The DC further informed the district education officer to mobilise at least 100 students each for the rally.
