IMPHAL — Security forces arrested seven persons including one Myanmar national along with arms and ammunitions during a search operation in Moreh, a border town in Manipur, on Saturday.
“On 4.11.2023 security forces arrested seven persons including one Myanmar national from Chavangphai, Tangoubung, Seijang, Zion Veng under Moreh Police station in Tengtnoupal district and recovered 10 gram of gun powder, one Chinese hand grenade, 60 gram of suspected Sulpher dioxide, 102 numbers of 12 bore rounds and 2.5 kg of suspected explosive materials (Ammonium nitrate),” stated a press release from Manipur Police Control Room.

The arrest and recovery of arms and ammunition was made in the follow up search operations to nab the culprits involved in the killing of a sub-divisional police officer, Ch Anand, of Manipur police at Moreh on October 31 last.
On November 1, state and central armed forces also picked up 44 persons including 32 others alleged to be Myanmar nationals in a joint operation in Moreh.
Meanwhile, security forces recovered one SLR with magazine and one muzzle loading rifle, one carbine magazine and one wireless radio from Loiching range under Kangpokpi district during a search operations on Saturday.
“Today (4.11.2023), Imphal West district police recovered four vehicles (one Bolero and 3 gypsy) which were taken away by armed miscreants from the vicinity of jail road on November 1, 2023, from different places of Imphal West,” police report stated.

It added that strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy has been provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles.
It may be mentioned that Manipur has been witnessing violence since the first week of May, in which around 175 people were killed and nearly 50,000 people were displaced besides burning many villages and localities.
