Seven more Covid-19 cases detected; tally in Nagaland rises to 25

Dimapur, May 29 (EMN): Seven more returnees from Chennai have been tested positive for Covid-19 at the bio-safety level-3 (BSL-3) virology lab in Kohima on Friday, taking the total number of cases in Nagaland to 25.
This was informed by the Health minister S Pangnyu Phom through a social media update on Friday morning.
“Two more tested positive for Covid-19. Both are returnees from Chennai. One from Dimapur and one from Tuensang,” the minister tweeted.
“Five more tested positive of Covid-19. One at Dimapur and four at Kohima. All returnees from Chennai,” Phom updated again.
Among the seven new cases, four are from Kohima, two from Dimapur and one from Tuensang.
Nagaland recorded its first three Covid-19 positive cases on May 25. The fourth case was reported on May 26. Five more were recorded on May 27 taking the positive cases to nine. The cases doubled on May 28 as the state recorded nine positive cases, the highest positive case in a single day yet.
According to Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, 1934 samples have been tested till date.
Out of a total of 1934 suspected samples sent for testing so far, the results of 1371 samples have been received out of which 25 are positive. Results for 563 samples are awaited, Sinha informed.
Through the TrueNat testing machines so far, a total of 63 samples have been tested and all are negative. Currently, there are 3526 persons under facility quarantine in the state.
“A total of 12,836 citizens have signed up in the nCOVID-19 Nagaland-Visitors App since March 23, and in the last 14 days, 2298 persons have submitted their travel self-declaration. At present 2017 persons are being digitally monitored through the app,” he said.
