Seven Covid cases detected in Wokha

Dimapur, July 23 (EMN): A total of seven Covid-19 positive cases were detected out of 604 samples taken during the four-day random testing using rapid antigen test (Rat) in Wokha from July 19 to the 23rd.

According to a DIPR report, 604 residents from 13 colonies/ wards and two villages were tested for Covid. It added that almost all the business establishments, vegetables vendors, shopkeepers, residents living in close proximity with Wokha town area were covered during the four-day exercise.

Report also stated that one Covid-19 positive case was detected in Longsa village out of the total 56 samples during the random rapid antigen test (Rat) on July 23.

The deputy chief medical officer and in-charge of district immunisation officer (DIO), Wokha, Dr. Zuben Kikon lauded the frontline workers (FLWs), Wokha district chambers of commerce and industries (WDCCI), DPRO team, doctors and staff, DTF members, police, DBs, GBs, village council chairmen, colonies/ ward chairmen and others for their active participation and making the four-day exercise a success.

Kikon also informed that strategies and plans have been worked out to carry out more of such exercises to stop further spreading in the community. He, therefore, sought similar support and cooperation from the public even in future.

On July 22, random testing was conducted in Wokha village, Rachan colony, Techeyiro colony, Chanka and Police Reserve in which five cases were detected out of the total 59 samples. On July 20, testing was also conducted at Vankhosung Mission Compound and APMC area, where 39 samples were collected for testing wherein all turned out negative.
