Service extension issue: Naga Students' Federation requests NLA Speaker to intervene

Dimapur, June 15 (EMN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has appealed to Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Speaker to immediately intervene on the its representation submitted to the chief secretary and rescind the notification on extension of Dr. PJ Anthony's service as Principal Secretary of NLA Secretariat, without further delay.

In a letter signed by the convener and co-convener of Public Grievances Redressal Cell, the NSF said that it has taken a serious note of the promotion of retired Central government employee to a post with administrative authorities, terming it as “unfortunate”.

It also appealed to the Speaker to repeal the notification in the interest of the student community and the youths.

“Further, if the service of the incumbent is so deemed indispensable for the smooth functioning of the concerned department, an alternative arrangement (either in the capacity of a consultant or otherwise) to retain his service should be the way forward and not the present arrangement,” read the letter.
