Sensitisation programme on Covid-19 underway in Mokokchung

Dimapur, June 25 (EMN): In view of the present unprecedented situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a mass sensitisation programme is being organised by the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) from June 25 to the 27th.

The programme is a part of MTLT Covid-19 mitigation programme which was initiated to safeguard the town and its citizens from the virus, stated an update received here on Thursday.

The organisation's activities is being supported by the district administration, police, medical department and minister in-charge of Mokokchung district, Metsubo Jamir, minister for Rural department.

The MTLT Covid-19 Co-ordination Committee carried out public announcements in and around the town appealing to the people to wear face masks and maintain social distancing. The members also distributed masks to pedestrians.

The team also visited retails and asked the shopkeepers to wear face masks and keep hand-sanitisers or hand wash facility in their shops.

The public appreciated the initiative of the MTLT in their continued fight against the Covid-19 in the district, it was informed. The union also distributed relief to the needy people in the district for the last three months.

Another awareness campaign against stigmatisation and discrimination will be organised in the following days, it informed.
