DIMAPUR — A one-day awareness and sensitisation programme on District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) was organised by Zunheboto district administration and DHEW with Sumi Totimi Hoho (STH) on August 12 at SKK conference hall, Zunheboto.
Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, in his speech said that in order to encourage women empowerment, the district administration through DHEW, would be training 50 women in tailoring for one month, as part of the first phase.
This would be followed in subsequent batches till everyone who enrolled their names is trained, a DIPR report stated.
He also informed that starting in August, 30 girls will be trained to make paper bags. He further added that his wife Komal will be training women on how to make different snacks and fast food items. Mali also said that they are planning to start electrician training for men in a few months.
He further updated the STH members about the Chief Ministers Micro Finance Initiative (CMMFI) where anyone who wishes to start a business can avail loan and become an entrepreneur. After the DC’s address, a presentation on DHEW, BBBP and PMMVY followed where the women folks were informed about the advantages of the schemes.
