Seniors Masters League: Lhomithi Veterans triumph over Chumou Blasters
DIMAPUR — In a low scoring match, Lhomithi Veterans SC secured a 14-run victory over Chumou Blasters in the ongoing Seniors Masters League 2023-24, on Sunday.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, Chumou Blasters managed to restrict Lhomithi Veterans SC to 95 runs, all out in 19.5 overs with a superb spell from Jenithung Ngullie, Kezhangutuo Zhotso, and Asu Sakhru, each claiming two wickets.
While defending the low target, Lhomithi Veterans SC bowlers Edento Achumi and Inaka Zhimomi dismantled Chumou Blasters’ batting line by picking up six and three wicket respectively. At a critical juncture in the match, Chumou Blasters found themselves struggling at 22 runs with a loss of 9 wickets in just 6.4 overs.
Chubatemsu Ozukum and Jenithung Ngullie fought hard to keep the match alive, taking the score to 81. However, Lhomithi Veterans ultimately emerged victorious with the fall of last wicket—Chubatemsu Ozukum, in the 19th over.
Edento Achumi of Lhomithi Veterans SC was honored as the man of the match for his exceptional performance, securing 6 wickets in 4 overs. Additionally, due to rain, the Saturday (November 18) matches have been rescheduled to December 9.
