Staff Reporter Dimapur, February 15 Nagas tend to encroach on others interest while trying to protect one’s pride and this is one reason for division among the Naga community articulated legislator Kuzholuzo Neinu addressing the Tangkhul community in Dimapur as chief guest during the Luira festival at Jotsoma community hall, Kuda village on Monday. The politician also called on to review past course of events and learn from the mistakes committed rather than regret over things done and share blames when it is needed. “It is crucial for Nagas to rise against social evils rampant in the Naga society such as corruption, extortion, murder etc. and if that cannot be done, Nagas would face destruction and have a bleak future” said Azo. The division among us has hindered in achieving the long cherished dream, he said adding that if Nagas are united, no force on earth can prevent from achieving Nagas’ dream for self determination. He therefore appealed the gathering to stand united and support the Peace Accord signed on August 3 2015 between Government of India (GOI) and NSCN-IM. Also stating that Tangkhuls and Chakhesangs are immediate neighbors, he propounded on the Christian principle –‘love your neighbor’ in order to live in peace and harmony by doing away the ‘ism’. “Even we are not united there is a way to solve our problem and that’s our faith in the same God,” he stated. “Are we really living a true Christian life?” he challenged and also guaranteed that Nagas’ dream to become one family will become a reality if the Christian principle is upheld. Therefore Azo appealed the August gathering to live above tribalism and lead a true Christian life. Organized by Tangkhul Union Dimapur, ‘Luira Phanit’ which means ‘digging of field’ is a 12-day affair observed by the Tangkhul community to invoke God’s blessing for a bountiful harvest before sowing seeds. Tangkhul community marked the Luira Phanit festival with tug-of-war, fancy dress and folksong competitions among 5 colonies that is – Kuda village, Wungram, Darogajan, Diphupar and Patkai.
