Kohima, Feb. 22 (EMN): The NSCN (IM) member, who was arrested on February 21 by the Assam Rifles (AR) was ‘released safely’ on early Saturday morning in Imphal, Manipur “after due procedure”, a source told Eastern Mirror.
“Naga people love peace and will like to live peacefully. We would like to respect everyone and we also expect them to respect us as well,” the source maintained.
It was informed that on Thursday, an AR captain was captured, and his weapon seized, but with the intervention of the public, he was released and his weapon returned. The next day, an NSCN (IM) cadre was arrested by the AR, which triggered protests (and tension) across Senapati district in Manipur.
“Captain Gideon Thangal of NSCN (IM) cadre who was arrested by Assam Rifles on February 21 at Senapati has been released safe and sound at around 4:30 am on February 22 by CJM Senapati through all the support and prompt response of public,” another source informed.
