Seminar to enhance tourism potential held at Khonoma village
Student participants and resources persons during the seminar on tourism potential and career development opportunities at community hall, Khonoma village, on Monday.

DIMAPUR — A one-day seminar to enhance tourism potential and provide career development opportunities to the local youth was held at community hall, Khonoma village, on Monday.

The seminar was jointly organised by the Village Adoption Committee (VAC) of 8th Western Angami AC under the Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Sechu-Zubza, Kohima Science College and YouthNet, stated an update from Media Cell, YouthNet.

The seminar was structured into two sessions, each addressing crucial aspects of capacity building and career guidance. The inaugural session focused on career counseling, featured presentations by Francis Kikon and Tokatoli Achumi, assistant professors from the Department of Geology, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.

“Their insights illuminated various career pathways for the enthusiastic attendees, inspiring them towards informed choices for their future endeavours.” It stated.

Moderated by Seyiekhrielie Whiso, associate professor, Department of English at Kohima Science College, the session fostered interactive discussions, enriching participants with practical knowledge and skillsets essential for excelling in the field.

Following the career guidance, the second session delved into capacity building for tourist guides with Kejaroko Pier sharing invaluable expertise and strategies aimed at nurturing a skilled workforce in the tourism sector.

“Adding a layer of depth to the discussion, Razouvikhol Luho, the nodal officer of YouthNet, provided insights into entrepreneurship and the burgeoning private sectors in Nagaland. His perspectives set the tone for an entrepreneurial spirit among the attendees, igniting aspirations for growth and innovation,” the update stated.

As a token of solidarity and support, the Village Adoption Committee (VAC) presented a state-of-the-art PA system to the Khonoma Village Council, to enhance community connectivity and communication.

Additionally, stationery items were distributed to students of Class 10 from various local schools, including Christian Welfare School, St. John Bosco School, and Government High School, Khonoma.

The seminar garnered enthusiastic participation from students and unemployed youths, underscoring a collective commitment towards leveraging the region’s untapped potential for holistic growth and development.

“Through collaborative efforts and focused initiatives, the event not only empowered the youth but also paved the way for fostering sustainable tourism practices, thereby contributing to the overall socio-economic progress of the region,” it added.
