Dimapur, March 25 (EMN): The Indian Association of Physiotherapist (IAP) Nagaland state branch in collaboration with Dimapur District IAP Women Cell organised a seminar on osteoporosis, a serious public health issue, for the general public at Nikos Hospital and Research Center, Dimapur on March 23.
Osteoporosis is a condition characterised by a decrease in the density of bone, decreasing its strength and resulting in fragile bones, according to Medicine Net.
Resource person for the seminar Dr. Inato Achumi, MPT (musculoskeletal), state joint secretary, IAP Nagaland state branch, gave a brief introduction on the anatomy of bone during the programme. He also emphasised on the bone physiology, the osteoporotic process and the diagnostic procedures, informed an update from IAP Nagaland unit.
Achumi also stressed on “how physiotherapy is a proactive way to help prevent this problem (osteoporosis) and an effective treatment that helps restore movement, function and bone strength.”
