- DIMAPUR — The
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Salesian College of Higher Education
(SCHE) and Bosco College of Teacher Education (BCTE) jointly organised a one-day
seminar on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) on Saturday at SCHE conference
hall.
- An update from SCHE stated that the seminar was organised
with an aim to creating awareness and impart knowledge about the various
aspects of IPR among the faculty of both institutions.
- The resource person, Gihukali Chishi, technical in-charge at
Patent Information Centre, Kohima, imparted practical knowledge and insights
into the realm of patents, trademarks, copyrights and geographical indications.
Her presentation began with a comprehensive overview of the significance of IPR
in today's knowledge-driven economy, emphasising its role in fostering
innovation and protecting creative endeavors.

- It stated that Chishi elucidated the different types of IPR
with relevant examples and case studies, making the complex legal concepts
accessible to the audience.
- The session also delved into the nuances of copyright
protection for literary and artistic works as well as the significance of
geographical indications in preserving the unique identity of products
originating from specific regions.
- It added that Chishi patiently addressed the queries by
providing valuable guidance and practical advice.
- It mentioned that the seminar fostered an interactive
learning environment with participants actively engaging in discussions and
seeking clarifications on various aspects of IPR.
- The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Fr.
Dr. Paul Punii, college’s principal, wherein he acknowledged Chishi for her
insightful presentation and the IQAC of both colleges for organising this
crucial awareness programme.
- It further stated that the event served as a significant
step towards equipping the academic community with a better understanding of
intellectual property rights and their implications in their respective fields.
