Seminar on Dimasa Customary Law, village council held in Karbi Anglong

Diphu, Sep. 1 (EMN): A one-day introductory seminar on the Dimasa Customary Law and village council was held at Agriculture Farmers Growth Centre in Diphu on Thursday.

The seminar was initiated and chaired by the 19th Dhansiri Constituency, Member of Autonomous Council (MAC), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tiluttoma Hasnu.

Informing media persons, Hasnu said that the seminar was held with several students’ organisations, NGOs, Dimasa Village headman and intellectual on strengthening of Dimasa Customary Law and village council.

The leaders from various districts of Hojai, Nagaon, Karbi Anglong and Dimapur took part in the seminar.

She said, three workshops on the same will be held and a drafting committee would also be constituted while the drafting committee will choose the usage and area of the law which will be covered in the Dimasa customary law. All the laws related to the Dimasa customary will be advocated by the drafting committee.   

Hasnu also said that the new drafted law will all be filled up in Dimasa localities in Karbi Anglong since there is no customary law at the present.
