DIMAPUR — As part of the ongoing ‘Survival Mokokchung’ initiative, Kohima Ao Officertem Telongjem (KAOT), in partnership with the office of the Chief Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer, Mokokchung, organised a seminar on commercial-scale pig farming in the conference hall of the State Poultry Farm in Mokokchung on August 4.
A DIPR report stated that Manoj Kumar Basumatary, CEO of Symbiotic Foods Pvt. Ltd, Tezpur, Assam, and founding president of the North East Progressive Pig Farmers’ Association, was the resource person.
It stated that Basumatary has shared his personal experiences and imparted valuable technical knowledge related to commercial pig farming. It added that his guidance provided insights into developing successful farming activities in the district.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The programme was chaired by Dr. Nemjemyanger Kubzari, farm manager of SCBF Aliba, while the welcome address was delivered by Dr. BM Sunep, CVO Mokokchung, who also highlighted the importance of learning from experts with extensive experience in the field.
Among the KOAT members present were Nungsangwabang, additional secretary of Planning department and former vice president of KOAT; Dr. Kika Longkumer, joint director of Health and Family welfare and vice president of KOAT; and Senka Jamir, joint director of Horticulture department and executive member of KOAT.
The members have emphasized that the initiative was aimed at empowering local farmers by providing them with technical insights to enhance their commercial ventures.
