Sema relieved of Covid-19 assignment

Dimapur, July 5 (EMN):
The head of the empowered group for Covid-19 activities in Dimapur, Y Kikheto Sema, has been relieved of his charge, and directed to resume his role as agriculture production commissioner in Kohima.

In an order issued on July 4, Chief Secretary Temjen Toy also directed all the other officers assigned to assist Sema in Dimapur to report to their place of normal posting.

“The deputy commissioner of Dimapur will ensure that the responsibilities looked after by Kikheto Sema and his team are smoothly taken over,” read the order.

Meanwhile, Sema called a press conference on Sunday in Dimapur where he thanked ‘God for the successfully completion of three-month mandatory duty with great pleasure and satisfaction’.

He stated that the special committee has completed three months; and to take care of the returnees arriving in Nagaland, the state government had nominated very efficient officers; and on completion of their mandatory duties, they were now going back to Kohima to resume their normal duties.

Sema conveyed his appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to team Dimapur, which consist of district administration, police, medical fraternity, NGOs, churches, media fraternity and various committees, for rendering their service.

He said that it has been a very challenging and great experience for him, and also thanked chief minister Neiphiu Rio, Chief Secretary Temjen Toy for reposing their faith on him and his team, and for always supporting and providing all the required resources to fight the pandemic.

Sema updated that as of July 5, 17157 returnees have arrived in Nagaland—excluding paramilitary personnel.

He said that 6800 have arrived in Nagaland by special train; 4312 by normal train; 2723 by flight; 2212 by bus; and 612 by other vehicles.

Sema informed that 500 returnees from Bengaluru would be arriving in Dimapur on July 9.

Till the night of July 4, there were 50 quarantine centres in operation with 1202 inmates: 601 in 25 quarantine centres and 601 in 28 paid quarantine centres.

According to him, the Ganeshnagar quarantine has been closed down as all the inmates have been release on Sunday.

Even the number of institutional quarantine centres would be reduced to 24 by Sunday night, he informed.
