Dimapur, April 20 (EMN): With assistance from SELCO Foundation, the deputy commissioner of Mon, Thavaseelan K, has distributed laptops and printers for setting up Lok Seva Kendra in the district during a programme held in his office’s conference hall on April 18.
According to a DIPR report, SELCO Foundation is a not-for-profit and public charitable trust having its regional office at Guwahati. It works to address other SDGs through Sustainable Development Goals-7 by ecosystem development approach. The Foundation is undertaking solar electrification of 55 health units in the district and recognising the opportunity of continuous power supply.
It stated that the Foundation, on a pilot basis, has decided to set up digital centres in seven health units namely at Wakching CHC, Aboi CHC, Tobu CHC, Tizit CHC, Angphang PHC, Changlangshu PHC and Totok Chingnyu SC.
The Lok Seva Kendras would provide public services normally provided at common service centres at a minimal cost. It added that local entrepreneurs for the project have been selected in coordination with NSRLM, Mon.
The programme began with the context setting and introduction of the Foundation by the NE regional head of SELCO Foundation, Madhabananda Ray, while ADPM of NSRLM, Mon, Hangsa shared his experience with the Foundation in areas of livelihood generation.
On behalf of the people of Mon district, the deputy commissioner has expressed gratitude to the Foundation for undertaking such activities in addressing the unemployment issue of the district.
