Dimapur, Jan. 29 (EMN): The Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) and the Zunheboto Sumi Totimi Hoho (ZSTH) have destroyed seized illegal drugs and expired food products at the local dump yard on January 29 in the presence of the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Zunheboto, and his staff.
An update from the two organisations stated that illegal drugs and expired food products were seized from the peddlers and shops during its recent joint operation. It added that officials from NSCN (IM) and NSCN (KK) in Sumi region have also handed over seized items to the team for destruction.
During a short programme at the destruction site, ZSTH president Boholi Chishi has strongly voiced to totally eradicate the menace of drug addiction from thje society. While pointing out that the lives of many youth have been destroyed by those drugs, Chishi further reaffirmed the stand of ZSTH to rid those intoxicant drugs from society.
Also speaking at the programme, ZRSU president Nito Zhimomi stated that they have encountered many students being spoiled at tender age due to intoxicant substances such as marijuana, brown sugar etc. He expressed regret to see many students being addicted to such drugs.
He added that the officials had to disguise themselves as clients in order to apprehend those peddlers and confiscate those substances.
Meanwhile, the SDPO of Zunheboto lauded the ZRSU and ZSTH team for their efforts rendered for the well being of the society. Also informing that police personnel are also trying hard to eradicate the menace of drug addiction, he called on the ZRSU and ZSTH to co-operate with the police.
