Security forces awareness on women empowerment

Dimapur, June 16 (EMN): Jalukie battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a women empowerment and recruitment drive alongside lecture on Covid-19 awareness for the women of Tening town in Peren district on June 14.

A defence release stated that the team organised the campaign focused on registration of lady cadres for entry into military police and also creating awareness about precautions to be taken in wake of recent surge in Covid-19 cases.

It added that the team had emphasised on use of face masks, social distancing and use of hand sanitisers among other precautions. A total of eight women attended the campaign. 

The same battalion also organised a medical camp and awareness campaign at New Impai village in Peren district on June 14 to mark the ‘World Blood Donors Day’.

It stated that a total of 56 people including 23 females, 17 males and 16 children were benefited from the medical camp. It added that besides providing basic medical check-up, the villagers were made aware about the benefits and superstitions related to blood donation. They were also encouraged to come forward for the noble cause of giving life through blood.

It also stated that villagers were provided masks and advised to follow norms specified by the government regarding Covid-19 pandemic. Mosquito repellents were also distributed in order to curb spread of malaria during monsoon season.

In a similar programme, Kohima battalion of the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Voluntary Blood Donors’ Association (VBDA), Kohima, organised a blood donation campaign at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on June 14.

A defence release stated that the camp would be functional till June 19. It stated a total of 12 donors turned up and donated blood on the first day. It stated that donors were made aware about the benefits related to blood donation and also encouraged to support the noble cause of giving life through blood.

It stated that Dr. Vikato Kinimi from the directorate of Health and Family Welfare also shared his experience and thoughts on blood donation.

The same battalion also assisted the civil authorities of Kitsubozou sub-centre under UPHC Seikhazou in Kohima district for setting up infrastructure to carry out hassle-free vaccination drives on June 11 and 12.

It stated that a total of 183 beneficiaries were administered with the first dose of Covid vaccination without any complication after the stipulated observation period.
