Dimapur, Dec. 4 (EMN): In an unprecedented incident, the Indian security forces reportedly killed 10 civilians from Oting village under Longkhao area of Tizit sub-division in Mon district, and several others were injured on Saturday evening.

According to sources, the incident happened at around 4 pm on Saturday when the villagers were returning home in a pick-up truck after the day’s work at a coal mine.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, the president of Oting Village Students’ Union (OVSU), Keapwang Konyak, informed that the incident came to light after the victims didn’t return home as usual.

He said the volunteers, who went looking for them, found the dead bodies in a pick-up truck.

On seeing the dead bodies, the irate volunteers set one vehicle belonging to the security forces on fire.

Konyak claimed that six persons were killed on the spot while four others were killed after the volunteers set the vehicle on fire. He added that there could be more casualties as they were unable to search due to darkness.
