Dimapur, May 16 (EMN): Kohima battalion of the Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) felicitated the nursing fraternity in Kohima in recognising their selfless service on the occasion of International Nurses Day on May 12.
A defence release stated that to mark the occasion, the Assam Rifles personnel visited the Meriema Covid Care Centre, Naga Hospital, Oking Hospital, and Bethesda Hospital in Kohima and distributed sweets to the nursing staff, who are working relentlessly day and night to keep humanity safe.
In another programme, the Jalukie battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a Covid-19 awareness drive for the residents of Athibung and Heninkunglwa villages in Peren district on May 14.
It stated that the event was focused on creating awareness about precautions to be taken in the wake of recent surge in Covid-19 cases. It added that use of face masks, social distancing and use of hand sanitizers among other precautions were emphasised during the Awareness drives.
Besides, the villagers were motivated to get themselves vaccinated at the earliest. The team has also distributed face masks and hand sanitisers to the villagers.
The beneficiaries included people from all sections of the society consisting senior citizens, women and children, the statement added.
