Security forces conduct various programmes in Arunachal

Dimapur, May 16 (EMN): The Longding battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a free medical camp-cum-Covid-19 awareness drive at Lawnu village in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh on May 15.

A defense release stated that the medical team provided assistance, medicines and other Covid-19 related essentials to 218 persons from all age groups in the area. It added that the beneficiaries included people from the weaker section of the society consisting of senior citizens, women and children.

In another event, the Khonsa battalion of the Assam Rifles organised International Day of Families at Dadam and Laju villages in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on May 15.

It stated that the event aimed at creating awareness about issues relating to families and importance of families in community. On the occasion, the villagers were informed about various governmental welfare scheme and job avenues available for the people of the region, sensitised about the second wave of Covid-19 and the precautions to take in preventing the spread, it added.

In a separate event, the Indian Army conducted three-week-long training on “Hospitality and Home Stay Skill Development Course” under the aegis of Aalo military station as part of Year of Tourism-2021 to promote tourism, generate employment and highlight the cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.

It informed that the training is an initiative of the state government, where 27 selected participants of various age groups successfully completed it.

It stated that a closing ceremony was held at Aalo military station following strict Covid protocols on May 15. A cultural programme was also organised by the participants to commensurate the closing ceremony. Commander of Aalo military station congratulated the participants for completion of the course and encouraged them to volunteer for Adventure Tourism course, which is scheduled to be held in days to come, it added.
