Dimapur, June 15 (EMN): Security forces arrested 12 persons from different locations in Dimapur during the past two weeks on charges of various criminal offences. Security forces have handed over the arrested persons to different police stations for further investigations.
A defence release stated that security forces apprehended ten individuals with four trucks of Veneer sheets at Paramedical Colony in Kohima district on June 3.
It added that the security forces seized an approximate 96 tons of veneer sheets, which were brought illegally without paying taxes and a cash amount of INR 50,000 based on specific inputs.
It stated that arrested persons along with the recovered items were handed over to the Forest department for further investigation.
In a separate incident, security forces along with the state police arrested one person with contraband drugs in a joint operation at Burma Camp in Dimapur on June 11.
It added that the joint team recovered 10 boxes of brown sugar worth INR 35,000 from his possession. A defence release further informed that the arrested person along with the recovered items have been handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur, for further investigation.
In another incident, security forces in a joint operation with the state police arrested one person and also rescued a truck driver from Khehokhu area in Dimapur on June 13.
A defence release said the truck driver was kidnapped from 6th Mile Petrol Pump, Dimapur. It further added that the arrested person has been handed over to Chumoukedima Police Station for further investigation.
