Security across Manipur, particularly in Imphal hasbeen beefed above on the eve of arrival of Union home minister RajnathSingh to Imphal.
The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to arrive in Imphal on Friday on his two-day visit to the state. Union minister of state for Home Kiren Rijiju will accompany the home minister, an official source here said.Ahead of the visit of the Union minister, security across the state have been alerted as preventive measures to thwart any untoward incident such as triggering of IEDs, attack on security force personnel etc.
Sources here said that Rajnath will hold a series of meetings to review the prevailing law and order situation of the insurgency hit state of Manipur.
He will hold separate meetings with state chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh, chief secretary PC Lawnkunga, state DGP Shahid Ahmed and senior officials of paramilitary and state administration on the same day of his arrival, the source added.
According to a tentative tour programme furnished to the state government, before the review meetings, the Union home minister will pay a visit to border town Moreh of Manipur with Myanmar soon after his arrival to Imphal.
A special BSF aircraft Union minister on board will touch down at Imphal International Airport at noon. From the airport he will directly airlifted to Moreh by a chopper. There he will inspect the progress of construction of an Integrated Check Post and immigrant office there.
After that, he will attend an interaction programme with troopers of Assam Rifles at Head Quarter of 9 Assam Rifles, Moreh. This will be followed by another round interaction with public leaders there.
Rajnath and his entourage are scheduled to leave Imphal for Agartala in the morning of the next day.
