Second test confirms Mokokchung’s first Covid-19 case

Mokokchung, June 30 (EMN): Mokokchung district has recorded its first Covid-19 case as the second test result of the woman, who was detected with the virus via TrueNat machine last week, returned positive on Tuesday.

Earlier in the evening of June 27, her sample had tested positive on TrueNat machine; following which the district authorities sent the sample to the BSL-3 laboratory in Kohima for confirmation.

The Mokokchung district administration issued a statement on Tuesday morning informing that her second test has returned positive.

The patient, who returned from Delhi, was undergoing quarantine at the Mary Mead Quarantine Centre in Impur when she was detected with the virus in her first test via TrueNat.

According to the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir, her sample was sent for confirmation to the BSL-3 lab in Kohima on the morning of June 28.

Jamir informed that the patient is currently at the Covid Care Centre, Mokokchung. “She is asymptomatic and her condition is stable,” he added.

With the latest development, the Covid-19 status of Mokokchung is no longer green, with one positive case.

Meanwhile, the DC has declared Mary Mead Hostel Campus encompassing IBS building 1, IBS building 2 and IBS building 3 as containment zone.
