Organised by Naga Homeboiz with theme ‘Hip-hop away from violence’, the event will be held at State Academy Hall, Kohima

With a promise to bring in the best of entertainment and artistry for all to witness the beautiful and diverse art of Hip- Hop all in one stage, the second edition of Urbanjam under the theme ‘Hip-hop away from violence’ is all set to be held on September 30 from 6 pm onwards at State Academy Hall, Kohima organised by ‘Naga Homeboiz’.
Urbanjam will witness the finest hip-hop artists from the locality like AK Trigga, M-Dox, Table 3, The HOP Crew, DJ Moate Pongen, Calvin Yimsung, Mc Gruff, Krazy K, Akhrie Slim, Youngside, Nagaland Beatbox Community etc. Urbanjam 2.0 will be hosted by Macnivil and DJ Moate Pongen on the sets.
Announcing this at a press conference held at Hotel Blue Bayou, event coordinator, Martin Longkumer said the event aims to promote new local artists and give them a platform to perform while keeping in mind to promote the culture of hip-hop culture in the state.
Urbanjam is also hosting the live rap battle competition for the second year where the best emcees will compete. The winner will get an exclusive record deal which is powered by its event partner Ideal Beatz from Malawi as the producer and Infinite Records from Kohima as the Studio Partner.
It was also informed that the best performing artist and rap battle winner will also get an exclusive gift hamper from its style partner NCL Streetwear.
He said the whole concept of Urbanjam is to represent the true essence of Hip-Hop culture and exhibit it across the right platforms that are made available to them as it strives to build a community ‘where we can learn from one another, display our cultural influences and progress with the intention of using our God gifted talents for greater purposes that are more than just mere entertainment.’
In the absence of a common platform to showcase urban music and its sub-culture that is constantly mushrooming in the state, Urbanjam envisions to bring together and promote notable and potential artists alike on a platform which would eventually introduce the artists to a bigger audience with better opportunities.
He further informed Urbanjam is the sole event in the state that focuses to uplift the humble origins of hip-hop culture that are imbibed on the performing artist from our vicinity, and proudly said it is successfully launching its sequel with great anticipation and fanfare without any kind of government aid and corporate backing (as in the case with most big events).
Naga Homeboiz consists of three members namely Martin Longkumer, Moko Moza and Zhavi Thorie that started in the year 2014. Naga Homeboiz were the winners of the Fifth edition Music Awards of Nagaland in 2013.
The organiser has invited all to be a part of its event to witness the best homegrown Hip-Hop acts from the locality. Tickets for the show are priced at Rs 200 and will be available at the venue or on call at 081-320-618-23.
