Second edition of Patkai Trophy concludes
Dimapur Government College football team celebrates after receiving the championship trophy in football.

DIMAPUR — The 3-day second edition Patkai Trophy, an inter-institution championship organised by Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), concluded on Saturday at the college premises in Chümoukedima.

Twenty-five colleges from four districts, namely Dimapur, Kohima, Peren, and Chümoukedima, participated in the competition. Dimapur Government College won the football trophy, with Sakus Mission College, Dimapur, finishing second. 

In the women’s category of basketball, St. Joseph College Jakhama emerged as the champion, with Patkai Christian College (PCC) as the runner-up. In the men’s category, St. Joseph’s College Jakhama secured the championship title, while Tetso College was the runner-up.

In the women’s category of volleyball, Dimapur Government College (DGC) secured first place, while Patkai Christian College came in second. In the men’s category, Immanuel College, Dimapur, emerged as the winner, with St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima, as the runner-up.

In the women’s singles category of badminton, Anjana Limbu from DGC emerged as the winner, with Nguluonuo from Tetso College as the runner-up. In the doubles category, the winning pair consisted of Anjana Limbu and Shikna Konyak from DGC, while the runners-up were Zudao Newmai and AG Ganchuiliu from PCC.

In the men’s singles category of badminton, the winner was Akumtong from SFS Medziphema, with Nchatu Herie from CHSS, Dimapur, as the runner-up. In the doubles category, the winning pair was composed of Vito Chishi and Atoka from Tetso College, while the runners-up were Akumtong and Tarensen from SFS Medziphema.

In the individual categories, the Golden Boot was awarded to Bharat Rai from Sakus Mission College for scoring eight goals. The Golden Ball was received by Vimegolie from DGC. The title of Best Basketball Player in the women’s category went to Sunjemmenla from SJC Jakhama, while in the men’s category, it was awarded to Keneitseizo Belho, also from SJC Jakhama.

Neikethonuo Mepfhuo from PCC was recognised as the Best Volleyball Player among women, and Imtirenba Ningdangri from Immanuel College received the same accolade in the men’s category.
