Sechü Zubza FC beat Tiema Khe FC to win Captain N Kenguruse trophy

KOHIMA — Sechü Zubza FC won the Captain N Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament title by beating Tiema Khe (Kidima) FC in the final at Jakhama ground on Friday.

Sechü Zubza FC took the lead after Sentilong scored a goal in the 30th minute into the match before Yhoto add one more within five minutes to end the first half with a two goals lead. However, Tiema Khe (Kidima) FC pulled back one after Kevisekho Thokhwe netted a goal in the 52nd minute.

Then Petevizo scored in the 65th minute for the Sechü Zubza FC to take the score to 3. Thokhwe once again scored for Tiema Khe FC in the 79th minute but that was not enough to save the team from a defeat.

Sechü Zubza FC won the final match against Tiema Khe FC 3-2 to take home INR 75,000, while the latter (runners-up) received INR 50,000.

Other individual award winners include: Player of the Tournament (INR 25,000) – Vizapo Phinyo of Tiema Khe FC; Best Goalkeeper (INR 25,000) – Horlan Shimray of Sechü Zubza FC; Highest Scorer (INR 20,000) – Kevisekho Thokhwe of Tiema Khe FC with seven goals; and Man of the Match (INR 10,000) – Sentilong Longkumer of Sechü Zubza FC.

The Red Shield Division in collaboration with Kigwema Students’ Union (KSU) organised the five daylong football tournament in honour of late Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse. A total of 11 teams took part in the tournament.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Brigadier Sandeep Kapoor, Commander 44 Mountain Brigade Zakhama Millitary Station, encouraged the gathering to carry forward the spirit of Kenguruse, highlighting his remarkable bravery during the Kargil war (1999).

Family members of late Captain N Kenguruse were also present during the closing ceremony.
