The Commission clarified that if any of the documents listed are available only in the name of the head of the family, they may also be used to identify other members of the family. Similarly, documents in the name of any other family member can be used for the identification of others, provided their identity can be reasonably established.

It further stated that minor discrepancies in details such as the elector’s name, parent’s or spouse’s name, sex, age, or address in the electoral roll shall be ignored, as long as the identity of the elector can be verified to the satisfaction of the presiding officer or polling officer.

The notification also made clear that no elector will be allowed to vote unless they produce one of the prescribed documents.
