SD Jain Higher Secondary School, Dimapur commemorates 50th anniv. of man’s landing on moon
Dimapur, July 5 (EMN): SD Jain Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, commemorated the 50th anniversary of ‘Man’s first landing on moon’ on July 20, 1969 in the school auditorium from July 1 to 5.
The occasion was used as an opportunity for the space enthusiast students of the school to tread through the exciting journey of man to land on the surface of the moon fifty years ago and the challenges faced in achieving the feat after decades long research and training.
The Science Club members of the school under the supervision and guidance of the Science Department teachers had organised a variety of programmes in the school to mark the occasion on the theme “Explore the universe for a better planet earth.”
On July 1, Science Club members organised a seminar highlighting the major events, inventions and technological advancement that helped man to land on moon. The speakers in the seminar were students from Classes IX to XII. They enthralled the audience with their speeches and audio visual presentations on moon mission technology and space research.
Other activities included painting and quiz competitions on space science, screening of short movie on moon landing and cosmology. Science teachers Joseph Mathew, Vivek Sah, and Jasmine supervised and coordinated the commemoration events in the school.
Abhijit Kumar, Debjoy Acharjee, and Manish Kumar of Class X bagged the first position for the best researched project presentation, while Rohan Biswas, Jekevi Kinimi, and Priya Dey of Class XII (Science) secured the second positions.
