Scouts and Guides lead cleanliness drive on Mt. Tiyi
DIMAPUR — Wokha District Bharat Scouts and Guides organised a trekking-cum-cleanliness drive on Mt. Tiyi on Saturday to promote cleanliness for a healthy environment.
According to a press release, T Zuchanthung Lotha, District Organising Commissioner (S) of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Wokha, encouraged scouts and guides to persist in doing good deeds for a better world and to set a positive example for the younger generation.
He appealed to all the visitors not to throw waste and litter the mountains, but rather to preserve and protect them for a healthy and clean environment as responsible citizens.
He stated that they will continue to conduct cleanliness drives; however, everyone must understand that they should not pollute the environment, and it is everyone’s responsibility to keep their surroundings, public places, and town clean and litter-free.
The press release highlighted that individuals visit these locations for recreation without considering the litter they leave behind. Waste discarded there accumulates in gorges or atop mountains, contributing to environmental degradation and creating an unhealthy environment.
