Dimapur, Feb. 28: Various schools from across the state observed Nation Science Day, in commemoration of the discovery of ‘Raman Effect’ by C V Raman on February 28.

The Pilgrim School, Dimapur observed National Science Day, under the theme “Science and technology for specially abled persons,” on February 28 at the School Assembly hall.
Significance of the day was presented by Sulika Zhimomi of Class 10 while a short video on ‘Life in International Space Station’ was displayed and skit on theme “This is my story....when a Smart Phone came” was enacted by the students of Scientific Club.
The programme was compared by Sana Karam, teacher in-charge of Scientific Club, Pilgrim School, invocation prayer was said by Justin Ngully of Class 9 while vote of thanks was proposed by Kaihru of the Dramatic Club.
Baptist Mission School: Baptist Mission School Jotsoma observed National Science Day, BY organising science exhibition on the theme ‘Science in everyday life’.
A total of 32 team comprising two members each participated in the exhibition by showcasing their scientific knowledge and understanding in the forms of science projects.
Among the projects 18 were working models. The students, teachers and the parents experienced a new and inspiring touch with the science during the exhibition.
Inaugurating the science exhibition, the headmaster of the school Mr. V.J. Thomas exhorted the students to have a firsthand experience with science rather than study for the sake of examination, and inculcate a sense of scientific aptitude in our everyday life.
The judges were Kekhrielezo Peseyie, Neivisie Peseyie and Seketoulie Keretsü.
Bethel School: In commemoration of National Science Day, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Phek organised a programme at Bethel School, Porba, on February 28.
At the programme, Dr. Rinku Bharali, ACTO, KVK-Phek, highlighted the significant of the day and demonstrated few scientific experiments to the student.

Sashimeren, Hhad teacher, Bethel School, emphasized on the importance of fostering scientific temper among the students.
To mark to occasion, essay writing competition was also conducted, wherein Shelu, Matholu and Master Nutsu were adjudged as the winners in first, second and third position respectively. Consolation prizes were also given away to the participants.
The programme concluded with a vote to thanks by Dr. Debojyoti Borkotoky, SMS (Animal Science), KVK-Phek. More than 50 students from standard and teachers participated.
The teachers and staff of Bethel school expressed gratitude to KVK Phek for enlightening and encouraging the students by organising such programme.
