Schools in Dimapur, Chumoukedima to shut down for 7 days to contain eye flu infection

DIMAPUR — In view of the reported rise in cases of conjunctivitis (eye flu) among school going children in Dimapur district and to contain the spread of infection, Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal, in an order informed that physical classes in all schools in the district will remain suspended from 21 August 21 to the 26th.

The decision to suspend physical classes was taken after deliberation with the district officials of the Department of Health & family Welfare and Department of School Education, and considering the severity of the spread of eye flu infection and the number of cases.

The schools have been requested to explore alternate options like online classes for the students during this period.

In a similar order, Deputy Commissioner of Chümoukedima, Abhinav Shivam, also notified that physical classes in all schools in the district will remain suspended from August 21 to the 26th.
