DIPHU — With the number of dengue positive rates increasing and with conjunctivitis (eye flu) spreading among children and even to adults under Diphu municipal area, the executive member (EM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Education, Richard Tokbi has directed for immediate closures of all schools and colleges.
To contain the spread of the virus, all schools and colleges will be closed till Aug. 27.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The immediate closure of institutions came to affect after Richard Tokbi shared a tweet on Aug. 22. Tokbi tweeted: “In wake of the rising case of conjunctivitis (eye disease) and Dengue in Diphu Municipal Board area, it is hereby directed for closure of all Education Institutions from 23rd August to 27th August, 2023. Henceforth all schools and colleges under the jurisdiction of Diphu Municipal Board area shall remain closed for next 5 days.”
As on August 23, the positivity rate of Dengue fever in Diphu Municipal area stands at 46% with official death toll as 4.
When contacted the Joint Director of Health Services, Karbi Anglong, Dr. Borsing Rongpi said that the conjunctivitis cases in Karbi Anglong have increased to 338.
The department of school education shall make necessary arrangements for online mode of learning till resumption of physical classes.
