- DIMAPUR — Expressing deep concern at the
delayed distribution of essential school supplies, the Dimapur Naga Students'
Union (DNSU) has appealed to the department concerned and the contractors to
expedite the release of notebooks and uniforms to the government schools.
- “This delay is severely impacting the academic progress of
students, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds...The
persistent delay not only disrupts the learning process but also undermines the
fundamental right to education,” it stated in a press release issued on
Thursday.
- The union called for a thorough investigation into the cause
of the delay accompanied by strict action against any erring suppliers or
contractors.
- “Implement measures to prevent such delays in the future,
ensuring timely delivery of supplies for subsequent academic years,” it added.
- Also, the DNSU appealed to all educational institutions to
cease the practice of charging exorbitant fees for transfer certificates.
- “The DNSU has also received numerous complaints regarding
educational institutions charging exorbitant fees for the issuance of transfer
certificates. This practice is a clear violation of the Right of Children to
Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009,” it stated.
